How much compensation will I receive?

We understand that you may want to know at the outset how much your claim is worth. However, it can be very difficult to give an estimate straight away as there are a number of different factors that affect the value.

These include:

  • The severity of the injury sustained as a result of medical negligence.
  • How long it will take you to recover from that injury, if at all.
  • Whether you will need further medical treatment as a result of that injury.
  • The amount of money you have lost as a result of the injury (for instance, lost earnings).
  • Whether you required any care and assistance when recovering from that injury.
  • What future requirements you have as a result of the injury, such as future medical treatment or care.
  • Whether you will be able to return to work in the future or whether you will be at a disadvantage on the open labour market as a result of your injuries.
  • Whether you are likely to develop any problems in the future as a result of the injury sustained which you might otherwise have avoided.
  • Whether your life expectancy is affected by the injury sustained.
  • The impact the injury has had on you physically and psychologically.

Because there are so many factors to consider it can be difficult to give an accurate estimate of the value of your claim at the outset, but we will work with you to value your claim at the earliest opportunity.

We understand you may be in need of money because you have lost your job or you need further medical treatment, and in some cases we can seek payments from your opponent, before the claim is settled, in this regard, to ensure your well being is not impacted by delays in the claim.
