Ince Metcalfes supports the sale of popular golf centre in BristolDecember 17, 2020
A popular golf complex located in Hambrook, Bristol has been sold in a deal supported by law firm Ince Metcalfes.
The golf complex, Bristol Golf Centre, has been sold to Golf & Leisure Group Limited for an undisclosed fee. Directors James and Candice Rogers have previously developed the Pirate Adventureland adventure golf complex in Weston-super-Mare and the Sky View Observation Wheel in Bristol.
Bristol Golf Centre was originally acquired 23 years ago by Nicky Lumb, a professional golfer, and his wife Kathryn and for the last four years it has been managed by their daughter, Nicky Jnr (also a professional golfer). The complex has developed significantly over the years and now offers a wide range of facilities for visitors, including a 23-bay floodlit driving range, 18-hole Pirate Bay adventure golf course, golf lessons for all ages, conferencing facilities and a Starbucks Coffee outlet. There is also a retail superstore on site, leased to American Golf.
Ince Metcalfes acted for the sellers, with the deal team being led by Managing Associate Edward Chapman alongside Rhona Forster, supported by Tracy Duggan and Lydia Cammiade.
Nicky Lumb comments:
“We’re looking forward to handing over the business to James and watching him take the business from strength to strength. We’ll be sure to visit and continue to hone our golf swing. Thank you to Ed and the team at Ince Metcalfes; their support from start to finish made for a stress free process.”
James Rogers, the new managing director of Bristol Golf Centre, said:
“Having the opportunity to acquire such a well-established and successful business was too good an opportunity to miss. We’re excited to continue to provide an exceptional experience for golfers based in Bristol and beyond. Its prime and accessible location also makes its conference centre a year-round attraction.”
Edward Chapman added:
“I am delighted to have supported Nicky and Kathryn on their sale. The firm has worked with the company for a number of years, which makes it particularly rewarding to have helped secure the right deal to allow them time to enjoy their other passions. I have no doubt James will continue to drive the business forward in the months and years ahead.”
Accountancy and tax support to the sellers was provided by Farquhar Partnership and Savage Associates, and HMH Golf & Leisure provided brokerage services.
Phillip Hogan from Henriques Griffiths LLP acted for Golf & Leisure Group Limited.
